Considered by many to be one of the greatest teams in NFL history, that 1979 Pittsburgh Steelers squad was the last of the great “Steel Curtain” teams of the 1970’s. Anthony Anderson played two seasons in the National Football League for the Pittsburgh Steelers, where he won a Super Bowl ring in Super Bowl XIV. he also played with the Atlanta Falcons.
He is a two-time Delaware All-Stater, inducted into the Delaware Sports Museum and Hall of Fame, he’s also inducted into Temple University Hall of Fame. Anderson was at the time the second leading ground-gainer in Temple football history. He earned the All-East and All-American awards while at Temple. Anthony E. Anderson is the only African American from the State of Delaware to win a Super Bowl ring.
The stage is set. Super Bowl XLIX features the Seattle Seahawks and the New England Patriots. The Patriots have won six AFC championships and three Super Bowls since 2002. They are by far the most successful NFL franchise of the current era, and a fourth Super Bowl win would cement that legacy. For the Seahawks to repeat as winners would be a considerable achievement considering only eight teams have won twice in a row. The Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson is one of only two black quarterbacks ever to have won a Super Bowl. Doug Williams is the other he led DC’s football team to victory in Super Bowl XXII. Who are you rooting for? Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 pm Eastern time.
